Abstract

Abstract: This research is based on the low motivation and learning results of grade 1 students in mathematics. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of applying the TaRL approach and the discovery learning model on student motivation and learning outcomes in mathematics subjects in class 1. This research method uses collaborative classroom action research. This research was carried out in 2 cycles. The subjects of this research were grade 1 students at SDN Tanjungrejo 4 Malang. The variables used in this research are increasing motivation and learning outcomes through the TaRL approach integrated with the discovery learning model. At the level of student learning motivation, the results showed that there were still 11 students who had low motivation in cycle I, and this decreased to 4 students in cycle II. Meanwhile, the average learning outcome obtained from the pre-cycle test was a score of 75.52, in cycle I the average score increased to 81.76 and in cycle II it also increased with the average score being 89.76.
