Abstract

Abstract: This research is to find out about the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model to improve students' literacy skills in mathematics subjects. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which was carried out in 4 stages. This research was conducted in the VB class of SDN Gadang 04, Malang City, totaling 28 students. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation and tests. Observations are carried out to observe students' activities in the classroom during learning activities. Tests are used to collect data related to students' literacy abilities in mathematics subjects. The data analysis technique used is comparative descriptive.  The research results are described to provide an overview of the process carried out. Then the students' scores are compared between the scores in cycle I and the scores in cycle II. The increase that occurred in cycle I was that the level of students' mathematical literacy skills was still below 50, and in cycle II the level of students' mathematical literacy skills was 75% as a group and 81% based on each student's test. So the conclusion is that the Problem Based Learning learning model can improve the literacy skills of class VB students at SDN Gadang 04 Malang.
