Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the learning outcomes of first grade students at SDN Tanjungrejo 1, Malang City, in Mathematics, specifically on addition, through the use of the Number Stick Learning Box. The research was conducted in two cycles, each encompassing planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, learning was conducted without the use of the Number Stick Learning Box, resulting in an average student score of 69.5 and a classical completion rate of 56%, still below the established success criteria of 80% or more. In the second cycle, the Number Stick Learning Box was implemented, enabling students to learn more visually and contextually. The results showed significant improvement, with an average student score of 83.3 and a classical completion rate of 81%. The use of this media has been proven to help students understand concepts concretely and encourage their active engagement in learning. Thus, the Number Stick Learning Box can be an effective alternative in first-grade Mathematics instruction to help improve student learning outcomes.
