Abstract

This study aims to improve student participation and understanding of the material "Strategies for Resolving Conflict in a Diverse Society" through experiential learning-based roleplay. The subjects were 11th-grade students at a public high school in Malang City. The main problems identified before the intervention were low levels of active student participation and a tendency toward rote conceptual understanding. This study was  conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The roleplay method used was a simulation with the theme "Kingdom Choice: A Prince's Fate," in which students role-played as royal figures facing social conflict in a diverse society. The results showed significant improvements in student participation, group collaboration, self-confidence, and critical thinking skills. Furthermore, their understanding of Pancasila values, such as deliberation, social justice, and tolerance, improved in practical applications. Based on teacher observations, students found it easier to relate the material to real life and were able to formulate peaceful solutions to conflicts in the given scenarios. Thus, the roleplay method has proven effective in creating meaningful learning and shaping students' character in accordance with the nation's noble values.
