Abstract

Abstract; This article focuses on research that aims to improve student’s poetry writing skills of class VIII C at SMP Negeri 12 Malang by applying an experiential learning approach. This research was carried out by applying the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method. Classroom Action Research was carried out in 2 cycles. The stages of Classroom Action Research include the planning stage, implementation stage, observation stage, and reflection stage. Based on research activities that have been carried out, the results of the research show that students' skills in writing poetry texts have increased with a classical completion percentage of 20% from the first cycle to the second cycle. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the experiential learning approach is an effective approach to improving students' skills in poetry writing activities.
