Abstract

Abstract : Science learning in class IV elementary school is very interesting if you use the Discovery Learning learning model, namely a learning model that places more emphasis on students' direct experience. Lack of student involvement in learning has an impact on learning achievement. For this reason, researchers use the Discovery Learning model by using the Snakes and Ladders media. This study aims to improve the learning achievement of IPAS material Me and My Needs in fourth-grade students of SDN Tanjungrejo 5 Malang City through the application of the Discovery Learning Model using the Snakes and Ladders media. The method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with two cycles. The research subjects were grade IV elementary school students totaling 29 children. The instruments used were learning outcome tests, observation, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes after the application of the Discovery Learning Model using the Snakes and Ladders media. At the pre-cycle meeting, the scores obtained were very low. In the first cycle, the average post-test score was less than satisfactory. Then, in the second cycle, there was a significant increase from the first cycle. Observations also showed active participation of students in learning activities. Learning using the Dscovery Learning model using the Snakes and Ladders media in this study was most effectively applied in cycle II.
