Abstract
Abstract: This classroom action research aims to improve understanding of the mathematical concept of non-standard units using the STAD type cooperative learning model. The research targets were grade 1 students at State elementary School Kebonsari 2 Malang. The number of students in class 1 is 28 children. The classroom action research model used is Kemmis and Mc Taggart. There was an increase in the percentage from cycle I of 60.71% to cycle II of 82.14% or in this case 21.43%. So it can be concluded that the STAD type cooperative learning model is able to increase understanding of the mathematical concept of non-standard units in class 1 students at State Elementary School Kebonsari II, Malang City.
