Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to enhance the short story writing skills of 10th-grade students (X2 class) at SMAN 6 Malang through the implementation of the Puzzle Picture method. This method involves using puzzle pieces to understand the concept of short stories. The study utilizes instructional media that can stimulate students' creativity and imagination in writing short stories. Initial observations revealed that the current teaching methods were ineffective in fostering students' creativity and that students struggled with composing a complete short story. In this study, the Puzzle Picture method was applied as an alternative approach to improve students' short story writing skills. The findings indicate that the implementation of this method enhanced the effectiveness and critical thinking abilities of students in writing short stories. Furthermore, the method clarified the concept of short stories. By utilizing the Puzzle Picture method, students were able to better comprehend the concept of short stories and develop their creativity in writing.
