Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted based on field data and interviews with class III teachers at SDN Jatimulyo 5 Malang who stated that there were still many students who had difficulty calculating addition and subtraction in layers. This is because teachers have not used learning media optimally and only use textbooks to explain the material to students. This research uses the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method which was carried out over 2 cycles which aims to improve students' learning outcomes in addition and subtraction operations on whole numbers with the help of gap board media. The subjects of this research were 19 students consisting of 10 girls and 9 boys. The data collection techniques used in this research were interview sheets, observation, tests and documentation. The results of this research show that mastery of the material from cycle 1 is 47.3%. In cycle 2 there was a very good increase in ability, namely 84.2%. So it can be concluded that the application of gap board learning media (addition and subtraction) can improve the learning outcomes of class III students at SDN Jatimulyo 5 Malang.
