Abstract

Abstract: This research uses a Classroom Action Research (PTK) approach which is carried out collaboratively with the aim of improving student learning outcomes in mathematics subjects regarding the Properties of Counting Operations on Whole Numbers in class III A through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. The research subjects consisted of 28 class III A students at Mergosono 1 Elementary School, Malang City, with 13 female students and 15 male students. This research is in the form of classroom actions carried out in two cycles, each cycle includes planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. Data was collected through descriptive analysis of student work documents, score lists, and observation sheets. The research results show that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Learning Model can make the learning process more enjoyable and effective, as evidenced by the increase in student learning outcomes in class III A of Mergosono 1 Elementary School, Malang City. Previously, the average value of student learning outcomes was 66.32, but after implementing the PBL model, the average value increased to 73.97 in cycle 1 and 82.06 in cycle 2. Thus, the use of the Problem Based Learning learning model ( PBL) has proven to be effective in improving mathematics learning outcomes, especially in whole number material.
