Abstract

Abstract: Critical thinking ability is a much needed competency. However, there are still many students who have difficulty analyzing the information in the report text. The PBL learning model with brochures as media can enrich the learning process and actively involve students in solving problems that are relevant to everyday life. This research aims to improve the critical thinking skills of class IX-A students at SMPN 7 Malang in analyzing report texts. This research uses the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method which is carried out in two cycles with 4 stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. Data was collected using test methods and analyzed using quantitative data. The research results show that the PBL learning model using brochure media can increase the percentage of critical thinking skills from cycle 1 (62.5%) and cycle 2 to (87.5%). Based on the percentage results exceeding 80%, it can be concluded that the innovative PBL learning model assisted by brochure media for class IX-A students at SMPN 7 Malang can improve critical thinking skills in report text material.
