Abstract
The current development of globalization is rapidly increasing, many positive and negative impacts caused. One negative impact is that students are more likely to play with social media compared to learning which is a major demand in 21st century life. Many students are reluctant to read lecture material and write learning outcomes that have been achieved during learning. This results in learning motivation and low self-efficacy. Through the use of learning journals, students will get used to reading and writing them in their individual learning journals. So students understand what they have learned and what they do not know yet. Based on observations made on PGSD University students at Pattimura University, students seemed to be less active in asking questions and expressing opinions, when given assignments they were only done in perfunctory ways, and some even did not. This shows that the motivation and self-efficacy of PGSD students is very low. The subjects of this study were 50 first semester students. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in student motivation and self-efficacy through the use of study journals. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The results showed that the use of learning journals was able to increase motivation by 88% and the self-efficacy of PGSD students with very high categories by 90%. Student responses to the use of learning journals are very good, where students are very enthusiastic when in the learning process, opinions and student work are valued. So students have high motivation and self-efficacy towards all assignments given.
