Abstract

Character education applied in educational institutions can be one of the suggestions for humanizing and civilizing. For this reason, character education during the pandemic must be considered because it is distance learning (Online) where students can only be controlled online without face-to-face learning and it is difficult for teachers to know the character of their students. This study aims to (1) How to implement character education during the covid-19 pandemic; (2) Obstacles faced in the implementation of character education during the COVID-19 pandemic at SDN Tanjungrejo 4 Malang in the 2020/2021 academic year. This type of research is a case study research, the research subjects are the principal, class teacher and parents of students. Data collection techniques used are surveys, interviews and document review. The data obtained were analyzed by data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data was tested by triangulation technique. The results of the research on the implementation of character education during the covid-19 pandemic showed that (1) the formation strategy was carried out through stages; syllabus and lesson plans design, learning, assessment and evaluation, moral values ​​taught at SDN Tanjungrejo Malang during the covid-19 pandemic include; responsibility, discipline, courtesy, hard work, environmental care, and social care. (2) the obstacles faced in character learning include decreased enthusiasm and motivation of students in participating in learning, network disturbances, in crowded places and late entry in the learning process.
