Abstract

This study aims to develop a medium for learning Indonesian language on material studying narrative essays, and measuring the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the media developed. The low narrative essay writing skills in students are caused by a lack of innovation in the use of learning media. Teachers in the classroom have not used the media in learning Indonesian especially in narrative essay writing material, which makes it difficult for students to understand the material contained in learning. By not using media in classroom learning, students can not be interested in the learning process in the classroom. This research uses research and development (R & D) methods.The research method used by researchers included the development research, and used the ADDIE model with five stages, namely: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. The test subjects were 15 fourth grade students of Sukolilo Elementary School 01 Wajak District. The data collection instrument used was a questionnaire for the validation of material experts, linguists, media experts, and practitioners (teachers), unstructured interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results of this study in the form of developing a guidebook for writing narratives with twodimensional Big Book media using the ADDIE model and obtaining an evaluation by media experts with a percentage of 89.8%. Assessment by material experts received a percentage of 84.6%. Assessment by linguists gets a percentage of 94.5%. Assessment by practitioners scored with an average of 3.5. Assessment of student responses gets an average score of 3.6. Based on the explanation of the results of the above assessment, the manual for writing narratives with two-dimensional Big Book media is categorized as "Eligible", because the exposure from the validator and teacher states that two-dimensional Big Book media is very effective in learning or "Good" for use in the field, because able to attract students' interest in learning to write narrative stories and be able to facilitate students in understanding narrative writing material. So the guidebook for writing narratives with two-dimensional Big Book media can be used as a teacher's reference as a learning medium in the learning process in the classroom.
