Abstract

Abstract: An encyclopedia is a collection of writings that contains a wide variety of information about knowledge or science in a comprehensive manner, illustrations or pictures in order to understand the concept. This study aims to produce a practical and effective teaching material in the form of an ethnomathematic-based encyclopedia of spaces. Specifically, this study aims to describe the development process and produce an ethnomatematics-based encyclopedia product used by class V. This research is included in the type of development research. The model in this study uses the Thiagarajan Development model. With this Thiagarajan model there are 4 stages, namely the Define stage, the Design stage, the Development stage and the Disseminate stage. However, at the dissemination stage the researchers did not disseminate the encyclopedia teaching material products widely. To obtain data, researchers used quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Quantitative analysis was obtained from the results of research that validated material experts, media experts, questionnaire responses and class V questionnaire responses. In the analysis, qualitative researchers obtained student response questionnaire data. This assessment is obtained from a short description and in the form of a chart for easy implementation. This Ethnomatematics-based Building Space Encyclopedia generates several categories: (a) Feasible, with the respective gains of the presentation from Media Experts 84.3%, Material Experts 85.7%, and Practitioners 90%. (b) Practical, which was carried out in the teacher's response questionnaire obtained a presentation of 90% and student questionnaire responses reached a presentation of 93%. (c) Effective, with an average percentage of the results of the student's questionnaire responses obtained a percentage of 80.5%. Based on these results, the Ethnomatematics-based Building Space Encyclopedia can be used because it has met the Feasible, Practical, and Effective categories. Therefore, the Ethnomatematics-based Space Building Encyclopedia will be used by teachers during the learning process in the classroom so that the learning process runs effectively.
