Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of role playing models on the speaking ability of the fifth grade students of Grati 2 SDN Grati Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency.
This research uses quantitative methods, this type of research is an experimental quasi experimental design. The population in this study were grade V students of Grati 2 Elementary School in Grati sub-district, amounting to 40 students with 2 classes, namely the VA class of 20 students and the VB class of 20 students. Data collection methods include interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The test instrument for the questionnaire is the validity test and the reliability test. Data analysis test consists of normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. Hypothesis testing in this study uses the t test (t-test).
The results showed that there was an influence of the use of role playing models (Role Playing) on the speaking ability of the fifth grade students of Grarti 2 SDN Grati Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency. With the average pretest score in the experimental class 67.25 and the control class 62.5. While the posttest mean score in the experimental class was 80.75 and the control class was 73.25. Analysis of the data of the two classes using the t test (t-test) obtained the results of significance (sig) of 0.645 <0.05 then stated Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. This shows that there is an influence of role playing models (Role Playing) on the speaking ability of grade V students of SDN Grati 2, Grati Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency. The suggestion in this study is that teachers are expected to be able to apply innovative learning models such as role playing learning models that students can achieve KKM (minimum completeness criteria).
